Mathematics and Language through the use of ICT4D in the Municipality of Uncia, Northern Potosi, Bolivia
In this project, 90 teachers will be trained to use innovate use of ICTs to teach mathematics and language at primary level in 3 schools. The project will enable 1400 children to access learning platforms and sensitize 15 local authorities (municipal and district education authorities) as they are responsible to manage lifelong learning opportunities for teachers.
Challenges to address
Inadequate training of teachers in the use of ICTs prevent them from integrate it in the curriculum. The Bolivian government is investing in delivering computers to schools, but marginalized areas are not always prioritized. The lack of access to computers, network infrastructure, training and knowledge prevent teachers from using existing platforms and integrating ICTs in their teachings.
Activities
Teachers will be trained to use computers and different platforms, and will hold demonstration sessions in the classroom with students. Teachers will create interactive books and these will be adjusted to the needs of the students, to improve learning outcomes. Project partners will monitor and provide support to teachers during implementation of the tools in the classroom and monitor the number of students that have access to the different platforms.
