Facilitating Adolescent Health Education and Human Rights Abuse Reporting through mobile devices in the Rohingya camps of Bangladesh

The project implementation will increase ability of Field workers in disseminating Sexual Reproductive Health Rights awareness among Rohingya; and enhanced ability of Rohingya adolescents in adopting hygiene practices and protect against HIV. It will also strengthen and build on the existing paper-based mechanisms used by the extended health workers. A digital channel for reporting instances of human rights abuses (including exploitation, gender based violation trafficking and other forms of abuse) will be developed. These reporting tools will be integrated with an analytic dashboard that can be used for decision-making purposes by stakeholder organizations which victims or any other camp inhabitants can report these cases directly to NGOs offering protection and social services in the camps.

Key groups:

Field workers of NGOs working, populations vulnerable to exploitation and their communities, Adolescents and young adults of the displaced Rohingya population, Inter Sector Coordination Group, International Organisation for Migration, Government agencies, Local and National Local and International NGOS, UNICEF, UNHCR

Challenges to address

The project will address the shortcomings of the traditional SRHR education service delivery channel at the Rohingya camp by offering e-learning solutions with predominantly audio and visual content to promote effective communication and SRHR education dissemination by local NGOs to the Rohingya population. The project will also address the human rights abuses in the migrant camp with frequent cases of human trafficking, Gender-Based Violence and sexual exploitation among others at the Rohingya camp.

Activities

Through the proposed project, Workshop will be organised for the stakeholder consultation and the project inception. A survey design and a research team will be set up and coordinate by a third party who will also be responsible to carry out a baseline study. The coordination tool will be developed with e-learning solution with the integration of the digitization of the sexual and reproductive Health Rights. The Majhis, the Women Friendly Center committees and the front health workers will be trained on reporting on Application.
